THE BIZNAGA STORY
People are always asking me how Biznaga came to be … so here’s the story:
“It all began in Australia where I was working flat out and I’d just about had enough. I knew I wanted more than life in the corporate world I just wasn’t sure what ‘more’ was. So I decided to take a couple of years off to travel, perhaps live in a few places for a while, learn another language, definitely eat some great food. As luck would have it, one of the first places I visited was the South of Spain – Pedregalego, just outside of Malaga, to be exact. My heart was lost. I forgot all my other plans, took a six week language course to get some basic Spanish, found a job and an apartment and just didn’t see any reason to leave.
The Spanish way of life seduced me almost immediately. The food was incredible, the people warm and friendly, I just wanted to immerse myself in everything.
With the help of my Spanish friends and ‘family’ my language improved. I discovered the best parts of ‘el mundo espanol’. I loved the markets with their mountains of produce. I learned the finer details of chorizo, queso and boquerones. People shared their recipes and cooking skills with me. I developed a passion for fresh, local ingredients bought and prepared on the same day. I enjoyed countless Sunday lunches with Spanish families. And I spent more than my fair share of weekends lying on the beaches of Cadiz.
Eventually I had to return to Australia and my career, but every year I went back to Spain for a couple of months to get my ‘fix’ of all things Spanish.
Fast forward a few years, and knowing I had been very fortunate to experience Spain in a way very few visitors do, I decided that it was only fair that I share it with everyone else … and that’s how Biznaga Travel Company was born!”Experience Spain, Biznaga style –>
